RECORDED WORKSHOP: Supporting Survivors

When someone shares a history of trauma with you, what's the right thing to say or do? Most of us aren't quite sure what the "right" response is in that situation and don't want to accidentally cause harm. Empathy and support are both skills that you can practice, and in this workshop, we'll be learning all about how to be supportive of the survivors in your life. This workshop is geared towards allies and loved ones of survivors of sexual violence, but covers skills that can be helpful to anyone.

In this two-hour online workshop, we’ll cover: 

• How to decenter yourself in difficult conversations
• What to say (and what not to say) to survivors
• How to cope with your own feelings during and after disclosure conversations
